Sonoma County · California · Est. 2012
Inspired by a small family property in the South of France — crafting world-class Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from the most distinctive vineyards of West Sonoma County.
Our Philosophy
"La Pitchoune means 'the little one' — small production, small lots, and the idea that our small size is our greatest asset."
Founded in 2012 and inspired by a small family property in the South of France, La Pitchoune crafts wines that speak of terroir and restraint. By combining passion, art, and science, every blend is expressed to its fullest potential. We pick grapes on the early side to retain natural acid and give our wines the potential to age — releasing our Pinot Noirs a full year later than most of our neighbors.
The Collection
Pinot Noir
Aromas of petrol, tar, tobacco, dried rose petals, red fruits. Fresh, bright flavors of wild strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate interlaced with black tea and soft chewy tannins. Decanting highly recommended.

Chardonnay
Barrel-fermented in 100% French oak, unfined and unfiltered. Aromas of lemon curd, orange blossoms, croissants and wet stones. Crisp, persistent mineral finish.
Sonoma County · 94 pts Prince of Pinot
Rosé
Named one of the 20 Best Sonoma Rosés by Sonoma Magazine. Light, fresh and expressive — a summer standard.

Chenin Blanc
World-class Chenin Blanc rivaling those of the Loire Valley. Grown on Merritt Island in Clarksburg — a true rarity in California.
Clarksburg AVA · Merritt Island
Terroir
Occidental · Sonoma Coast
Planted in 2000 atop a ridge above Occidental. Warm days and cool nights in the "banana-belt" of western Sonoma — typically our first Pinot Noir harvest each season.
Sonoma Mountain AVA · 1,400 ft
On the eastern flank of Sonoma Mountain at 1,400 feet — you can see the ocean from the vine rows. Rocky, volcanic soils impart enormous earthiness and aging potential. 95 pts Robert Parker.
Sonoma Coast · 9.2 mi from Pacific
Only 9.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean at 650 feet elevation. Marine fog each morning, steady afternoon winds — the epitome of true Sonoma Coast viticulture. Sandy-loam soils.
Western Sonoma County · 700 ft
In the redwoods of western Sonoma at 700 feet. Goldridge soils prized for drainage and low fertility produce low-yielding, concentrated Wente-Hyde Chardonnay.
Three Ridges from Pacific Ocean
A 20-acre family farm founded in 1976, three ridges in from the Pacific. Originally a micro-green farm — now home to extraordinary biodiversity and heirloom variety preservation.
Russian River Valley AVA
An organically certified Russian River Valley vineyard under continuous care for over 30 years. Home to many of California's most celebrated Pinot Noir producers.

Critical Acclaim
Pale ruby-purple colored, the Pinot Noir VDK leaps from the glass with fragrant pomegranate, wild strawberries, raspberry leaves and rhubarb — medium-bodied with gorgeous elegance and bags of finesse, finishing with great freshness on a lingering mineral note.
Robert Parker · Wine Advocate · 95 Points
La Pitchoune has been gaining its footing as one of the most coveted producers in Sonoma County with their unapologetic wines that are reminiscent of the kind of farmhouse wines you'd find throughout Burgundy, France.
Sonoma Magazine
Best of 2018, 94 Points. Our house theme of producing Pinot Noir that is not typically "California" in style has prevailed once again. Aromas of petrol, tar, tobacco, dried rose petals, red fruits, star anise and ginger rise from the glass.
Wine Enthusiast · Best of 2018 · 94 Points
If you're seeking quality, low-production, boutique wines you might want to know this small Sonoma winery. Production numbers are low, which in my books can often mean a more handcrafted experience that puts an emphasis on quality above all else.
